Maximillian De Coninck lived in Dieghem, Belgium. Madame Bennert, as a newly-wed bought her first Löwchen from him. These photos were taken cir. 1904 and used in Dogs of All Nations written by Count Henry De Bylandt. To go there and get more details click on the blue link.

Sadly this book has been destroyed, torn into many individual pages and sold as historical photos or art which is framed. This page is incomplete and marred by tape that cannot be removed without damaging the paper and photos underneath.
The book includes breed standards, some of the very first known from some breeds, including the Löwchen. They are seen in multiple languages. AKC library has at least one edition of this historic and valuable resource book in it’s historic book collection. This is accessible by appointment with the AKC Library.
These dogs are credited to be owned by Mrs. M. De Coninck. This led to some confusion initially when I wrote my book as I was unsure is this person was male or female. As it turns out the breeder/owner was Maximillian De Coninck. “Neger” means black man in a literal translation.
Interesting that this photo omits :”Neger” from the names of the dogs. And this dog is the black one in the middle, who is not named.
Included in these dogs is this one, who looks more like a Poodle than Löwchen. But in the book it is credited as a Löwchen, owned by a Löwchen breeder. This photo helps support the theory laid out in Chapter 1 of the Lowchen Book. Click on the blue link to go to this chapter to read this theory.

At some point it looks like Mosasaurus was owned by a Mr. L. van der Snickt. This information was sourced by Linsey Moeskops, Holland.
