Weilburg Castle is famous for the Lowchen “Bijou”, who’s story ends in either triumph or tragedy, depending on who is telling it!

Bijou sported the classic look of the Löwchen! This painting is found in the Baroness’s bedroom. Bijou’s story is found in the Lowchen Book on this website written by Gini Denninger in the chapter on Löwchen & art. Page 11. Click on the link in blue, for quick easy access!
A modern day “Bijou” . Photo shared by Martina Fitz. Martina bred and owned this lovely Lowchen.

Details from the historic foundation that maintains & runs tours of Castle Weilburg, of drawings drawn by Friedrich of Nassau, a inhabitant of this castle.
Two Löwchen with their friend, whom looks like a Papillon or Pekingese?
Another drawing of two Löwchen, one could possibly be Bijou, since the drawing is very similar to the painting.

“Castle Tour”

Below is a description of a “castle tour” in the voice of the woman  giving the tour. It is written with dialect of the time, 1928. The writer was a famous Berlin Journalist name Friedrich Hussong Weilburg. A decendent perhaps?
